In this task we were required to take 20 photos of 4 different compositions
A picture that has the composition of "rule of thirds" is an Imagine that is divided into 9 equal segments by 2 vertical and 2 horizontal lines. The most important elements in your scene should be placed along these lines, or at the points where they intersect. A picture that has the composition of "layers" is an image that is overlapping where you deliberately partially obscure one object with another. A picture that has the composition of "balance" is an image where the objects in an image have ‘weight’. This might be dictated by size, brightness or colour. Two objects can balance each other out even though they might be different to each other. A picture that has the composition of "triangle" is an image with this geometric shape is a good way of grouping elements of an image and organising them so they suggest stability. If you want to create an unstable feeling in a photograph then objects can be grouped into an upside down triangle. |
The reasoning for my colourful edits is because i want to show london in a different way. Because normally in schools in london colour is very bland with mostly including greys browns and mossy greens. However the use of colour in my opinion shows a happier and more exotic lifestyle. This is similar to Richard mosse who also uses colour to create a new prospective on conflict in The Democratic republic of Congo. |
This photo has been taken by Sato Tokihiro who uses long shutter speeds to capture a still image but it has artificial light orbs which almost look like a mythical creature or a different world. this is done by using a flashlight to create the sprites whilst the person whos doing the sprites runs around, making them not appear in the image, but because the camera picks up the light really easily it appears. Originally trained as a sculptor, he turned to photography in the late 1980s to explore his ideas with regard to light and space. His fascination with temporality is directly seen in his “breath graphs” or “photo respiration,” where tiny points of light or illuminated lines record his movements through space.

This photo was taken by Alexander rodchenko who specialises in using different angles to make objects appear very big or small as well as making the photos appear flat via his use of shadows.
In this case he took the photo from the foot of an electrical pylon to make it seem as if it towers over you and makes it appear very mennising, this was likely done to show the power of modern technology or to show that technology is taking over the world. He was universally praised for his avant-garde compositions and experimental approach to focus and contrast in his photographs. |
